Overview
Aleksey is smug, carefree, and has no sense of personal space. He's a fast talker and does his best to sling an arm around someone's shoulder; talking circles around his target until they're confused.
He's also the captain of an infamous band of air pirates. He leads the band of miscreants, scooping up whomever he can convince to run away from home. They're safe with him, mostly.
Aleksey takes in children and wanderers with no homes, welcoming them to his crew. It's not child labor, since he doesn't actually pay them. It's not slavery either, as he's not forcing them to stay. The governments still hate him and his ship. But in reality, he gives all his crew members a new lease on life, and any of them are free to go at any time. They all must pull some sort of weight in order to stay on the ship for an extended time, however.
He relies on trickery and deception instead of brute force, generally relying on a few of his crewmembers for cleanup and assistance. He knows better than to rely on Iggy, but that one is a better friend to him than the girls. He's mostly well-liked by his crew for being easygoing and fair, and he is a man of quick actions when circumstances demand a quick mind.

Aleksey's best friend, Ignatius is not very outgoing, talkative, or helpful, but he's always around to give the captain a nod of approval. Iggy has been a member of the ship since Aleksey became captain, and knows the ins and outs of both the ship and Aleksey himself.
Raised to be a polite young lady working for a wealthy family who kept her on a short leash, she was given freedom by Aleksey, who only intended to steal inorganic valuables from said family. Sadie vowed to follow Aleksey wherever he goes, as one of the most free men in the world.
The ship's quartermaster, Aleksey heard about Callisto's knowledge while in a run-down town and captured and barought them aboard. Callisto learned to appreciate Aleksey's leaadership and the worldy experiences being a pirate and has stuck around for the benefits, but doesn't care to socialize with much of anyone, including his captain. Aleksey appreciates Callisto's knowledge and long-term planning.
Aleksey brought Harlow aboard to help protect the ship, which she does a splendid job doing. She's a little hard to control, much like Sadie, but is powerful and friendly, which is what matters most to him.
A proficient navigator who has traveled the world, Blythe was offered a stable home on the ship in trade for his keen sense of direction and favor of maps. Aleksey trusts Blythes' wealth of knowledge about directions, biomes, and cultures of the world. Aleksey holds high regard for Blythe, too.
