Massively confident and very charasmatic; seems to have a dangerous aura that doesn't match his demeanor at all. Doesn't seem to be afraid of anything. He's quite the conversationalist and will happily talk to anyone who approaches him, but tends to keep to himself on the sidelines until then. He's very observant and remembers names and faces to a remarkable accuracy.
He's so focused on making himself out to an ideal person that he's just about forgotten who he used to be. He's cut himself off almost completely from his past, has no family he speaks of, and has become so focused on keeping his venture a success that he's all but lost most of his interest his unrelated hobbies and his close personal circle is almost nothing but his coworkers. He's struggled with dealing with peoples' flaws enough that he finds no one can live up to the ideals he thinks he has deserved, working this hard to get where he is. He manages his business very well and is still a kind boss, all things considered, but can't seem to get himself to enjoy dates or days out with people who could be friends.

Life
Lives on-site in a master suite, and is generally available to assist at any time the place is open. He's filled his living spaces with almost nothing but books detailing the world he's barely traveled in himself. He's very well read on the world, and many of his go-tos when talking with guests involve where they're coming fom and other places they've visited. He can easily keep up conversation about worldy travels, but if he learns of a new place he'll make it his mission to purchase both a book detailing the locale, and a regional cookbook.
After acquiring a major windfall in an event he always sidesteps explaining, he moved far from his hometown and opened up a bed and breakfast. In an effort to make his venture more profitable after quite a time of slow business, he expanded the eatery into a posh cafe, making it a popular destination for lunch and socmed posters. During popular holidays and the summer, he'll open up special hours in the evening with special menus containing special drinks and treats they don't offer at any other time.
Enjoys being a back-up cook, and gets along well with Julia. He made sure the kitchen is spacious and open, making room for his wings and long tail. Otherwise he can be seen being an extra set of hands when needed.
He always has business cards on him that he passes out to anyone he talks to for more than a few minutes while away from home. Most of his traffic is from word of mouth, rather than paid for marketing.
Trivia
- Goes by Chance or Big C more than Chauncy.
- Stands just short of seven feet tall, but with his boots he can reach it.

- He's never entertained the thought of traveling to any of the places he's read much about.
- He has the travesty of having his favorite drink be black coffee (a medium roast with no add-ins), but his favorite food offering there is a simple sweet bun that is a family recipe Julia was happy to share.

Relationships
She's the first person he invited into his venture in owning a shop. They had both lived in the same hometown and he brought her in. Neither of them talk about their pasts or what they mean to each other, but they get along frankly and all their disagreements are strangely civil. He put her in charge of bookkeeping and billing, and small jobs when he's not around.
While he has no interest in making Jorunn's love-hotel expansion idea real, he finds her unending positivity and brazen people skills charming. She's a ton of fun and he's always happy to see her, as her constant high spirits keep the people around her happy, too.
Her special interest in teas caught his attention, and he placed her as the person in charge of ordering new mixes for each season of drinks. While he doesn't like every tea she orders, he's always happy to see that every tea has customers who love them.
They work together frequently in the kitchen, as they're the only two regular cooks. They get along really well, and work easily together. He's always the first to try new recipes she's testing, and put her in charge of every season's food menu.
Thrown in charge of cleaning, and also a backup waiter and bus-boy, but otherwise they don't talk much. He's a diligent worker, if a little slow on the uptake sometimes, but Chance has no complaints about the young man otherwise. Chance feels like he likes him much more than James likes him.
